AnyWrite for Mac.
Hold fn and speak in any app. Hold fn + Control and AnyWrite answers from what’s on your screen.
For macOS 14 and later.
Hi! Could we move the review to Thursday? And did the signed contract come through?
What it does on Mac.
Hold fn + Control and say the gist. AnyWrite reads the thread on screen and writes the reply as you. Send stays yours.
Hold fn and talk the way you talk. The ums, restarts and repeats come out. Your meaning stays.
Say “send Sara the plan on Telegram”. The message is written from the doc in front of you, and you never leave it.
Select a paragraph and say “make this friendlier”. Undo is one click away.
On Zoom, Meet and Teams: decisions, next steps and who said what.
Draw a box over an image or a video. The words are yours to edit or translate.

Tell Daan I’m running ten minutes late
- You say it
- It reads the chat
- It writes as you
- You press Send
And the rest of your day.
Lena: Hey, I’m running late, can you start without me?
You: Sure, I’ll take the first two items.
Lena: Thanks! I’ll join for the budget part.

Remembers the names you fix
Correct a name right after dictating and it goes into your Dictionary, spelled right from then on.
Hi Lena, could you send me the slides before Friday? Thank you!
Writes differently in each place
Formal in Mail, casual in Slack, lowercase with the friends who write lowercase.
A short phrase, the long version
Say the phrase on its own and AnyWrite types the rest: an address, a link, a sign-off.
Answers in the chat’s language
Speak whatever comes out. In a Dutch chat it’s written in Dutch, because that’s how you write there.
Only while you hold the keys.
AnyWrite listens only while you hold your talk key, and macOS shows its orange dot whenever the mic is on. Ask sees your screen only while you hold the Ask keys, and the picture is never saved.
- Mic only while you hold
- Private windows left out
- Password fields never typed in

I honestly didn’t expect much at first, but this app surprised me. It’s fast, accurate, and actually useful in real situations…
Expectations blown away
Thought it would be trash like everything else… I can honestly say I was dead wrong.

Questions about the Mac app.
Any Mac with macOS 14 or later. Recording a call's audio for meeting notes needs macOS 14.2.
- Which Macs does it run on?
- Any Mac with macOS 14 or later. Recording a call's audio for meeting notes needs macOS 14.2.
- What permissions does it ask for?
- Microphone, so it can hear you while you hold the key, and Accessibility, so it can type into other apps. Screen Recording is optional: until it's on, Ask reads only the text on screen.
- Can I change the keys?
- Yes. The talk key can be fn, Right Option, Right Command or Right Control. Double-tap it to talk hands-free.
- Does it record my meetings by itself?
- No. It asks first and never records on its own. It works with Zoom, Meet, Teams, FaceTime and most other calls, and speaker names come from Meet, Zoom and Teams.
- Does it send anything without me?
- Never. A message for another app waits on a card with Edit, Don't send and Send. Forms are filled but never submitted, and password and card fields are refused.
- How is it different from a dictation app?
- A dictation app types what you said, cleaned up. AnyWrite also reads the conversation you're answering, so it writes the reply you meant.
- How much does it cost?
- Premium is a monthly or yearly plan for every device. Pro is a one-time purchase if you bring your own Gemini key. Prices are announced at launch.
